Computer projections disappointing for shippers

Projections of computer sales have been downgraded, with worldwide shipments of PCs to rise just 3.8 percent in 2009.

Earlier this year, projections were for 13.7 percent growth.

Demand for laptops and replacements for older office systems usually drive sales, but consumers have become more conservative with purchases this year owing to economic constraints.
