Bangkok airport buzzing again
Vancouver News.Net Thursday 4th December, 2008
Bangkok's international airport has almost returned to normal.
Authorities at the airport have assured tourist organisations and export/import businesses that air traffic should be flowing normally through Bangkok's international airport this week.
The anti-government protesters, who last week occupied Suvarnabhumi airport, closed traffic down for eight days.
The lack of new tourists in Bangkok has been the most obvious effect of the airport closure, and while hotels struggled to accommodate stranded guests while the airport was closed, they are now looking for skittish overseas customers.
Some hotels have seen a great number of cancellations.
There have been reports that fewer than half of hotel rooms have been booked for the upcoming tourist season.

Bangkok airport buzzing again
The airport seige ruined our vacation plans forcing us to find an alternate more stable destination. If this can happen once in Thailand without any action to correct a situation that effects not only visitors but the majority of the Thai population; then I will never risk another Thai vacation.
The anti-government rioters may have won a small temporary victory but they have forever blighted the peaceful, friendly “Land of Smiles”.
