DHAKA, Bangladesh - The 28 Bangladeshi seafarers stranded on a damaged ship in Ukraine have been evacuated along with the body of a deceased colleague as Russian forces encircled and continued bombarding cities.

The authorities declared the Bangladeshi ship abandoned after it was damaged by a missile strike at the Port of Olvia on Thursday, killing Hadisur Rahman, its third engineer.

The sailors, including two female cadets, boarded a tugboat at approximately 7:30 p.m. Bangladesh standard time, according to Pijush Dutta, executive director of the state-owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, or BSC, which owns the vessel.

Captain Amir Md Abu Sufian, the BSC Deputy General Manager, said the crew had arrived in Romania and the body of the killed engineer.
